According to local customs, the export value of Shanghai’s pure-electric passenger vehicles was approximately 20.68 billion yuan (3.22 billion US dollars) in the first eight months of 2021, up 14.3 times year on year.
From January to August, the city’s automobile exports totalled nearly 35 billion yuan, an increase of 247.8 percent over the same period last year.
According to local customs, pure electric passenger cars, also known as battery electric passenger vehicles, accounted for nearly 60% of Shanghai’s total automobile export value during the period, demonstrating the rapid momentum of the new energy vehicle industry in Shanghai.
Meanwhile, the city’s auto parts exports totalled 30.17 billion yuan, representing a 31.2 percent increase year on year.
